IS CANE CORSO RIGHT FOR ME?

Cane Corso

The Cane Corso Italiano is not for everyone!  Please thoroughly research the breed before considering making one a part of your family. The Cane Corso is extremely loyal and desires to please through obedience. Cane Corsos are great with children when raised with them and socialized properly, knowing to what intensity to play with each child. The Cane Corso’s have stable temperaments and are extremely affectionate to people they are familiar with, and are friendly to strangers when owner is present, but defensive against all intruders.

The Cane Corso puppy bonds to his family and becomes quite attached especially to the children. The Cane Corsos enjoy being included in the family activities and are very athletic and enjoy being worked.  The Cane Corso is not to be left in the backyard to their own devices this will cause them to become large destructive unhappy animals so make sure this breed is right for you.

Cane Corso Italian Mastiffs are instinctively very protective by nature and have the ability to discern friend from foe.  On impulse they know when to become a defensive and protective dog for its owner, property, and the entire family. With proper training the Italian Mastiff is submissive to the family, and suspicious of strangers. Buyers must be aware that if the dog is not properly socialized and trained it may become aggressive and dominant as with most breeds of dogs.  They are not just another big dog.  The Corso gives you the best combination of both a guard dog and companion.

Cane Corsos are very large dogs meaning higher vet bills, more food to feed, bigger toys to buy, much heavier crates to contain them, etc.  They require extensive socialization with both humans and other dogs. We strongly encourage you as a potential buyer to do your own extensive research as well.  We will be happy to answer any questions you may have about the Cane Corso breed.  Please see our Links Page for many informative links about the Corso breed.
